![]() ![]() I find them in general better at multi-tasking, working with video and audio, as workstations and as just the good ole desktop (since they don't break down or give you loads of problems). Then of course there's the little things that make me appreciate and like it. Logic 9 is a bit slow, and it can't handle the newer games graphically, but other than that it runs just as if it was new. I've had it for 3 years, and it's 6 years old. I tried mac and I haven't had a single problem with my computer. And that's my general experience with windows: too much hassle and problems keeping you from doing what you want with your computer. I just like Macs better I had windows some time ago, mainly for playing games, and it was ALWAYS something not working. Please all advice and suggestions are very welcome!! I've heard rumors about new iMacs coming this summer. I have no urgency in getting a new computer, but I would rather have it sooner than later. What should I do? There are not so many used i5's with quad-core out there in Sweden (at least not on the most popular selling sites), and many of them are almost as expensive as a new one (which is more than I can afford). :S If that situation comes in 6 years then fine, then I can buy a new computer, but if it's just 2 years away, then buying an dual-core/i3 now feels a bit wasted TBH. i3's are easier to find, and cheaper too (I am buying used since new is expensive as fudge :S )īut, as we all know, things get more and more advanced, and I'm thinking that maybe in a couple of years Logic 10 or 11, 3rd party software and other software will require a minimum of 4 cores, and then I'm stuck with my old bucket. Which means that an i3 would be just fine. ![]() I think Omnisphere top the list with an Intel dual core and 6GB of RAM. However, on most sites for these 3rd party software and on Logics/Apples homepage the requirements listed are rather "low". Also, recording and multi-track recording in Logic (9) will benefit from more cores. The only problem now is whether I should go for an i3 or and i5 processor, or rather: a dual-core or a quad-core? I've heard that programs such as Omnisphere, Superior Drummer and other 3rd party software run better the more cores you have in your computer. I am about to buy a new computer, an iMac. ![]() This is probably something for some other forum, but whatthehell I like this forum so why not ![]()
